You have to join at the central library in Chester, to get access to the Virtual Reference Library.
Joining the library
Joining the library is free for everyone young or old!  Simply complete the online registration form or pop into a library. When joining in person, or using the library for the first time if you joined online, you will need to bring along an item of identification. It must show your name and address, for example: Driving Licence, Medical Card, receipted Gas, Water, Phone, Council Tax or Electricity Bill, Bank Statement, or Building Society Pass Book.
You will also have access to our People's Network computers, which are free to use for one hour each day. Terms and conditions of use apply.

Hi Celia

It might be worth giving Chester a ring to see if you can join and make use of the virtual library. Whilst many of us still consider Wallasey and Birkenhead as being in Cheshire, for some administrative purposes they come under Merseyside.

I'm pretty sure than on some roads such as the New Chester Road somewhere near Eastham and the M53 there are in fact signs that say you are now entering Cheshire.

Neston is included in the list of libraries in Cheshire because its not in the Metropolitan Borough of Wirral.

I live in Runcorn (Halton Unitary Authority)  which has its own library service but I was also able to join the Cheshire County Library and use the Virtual Reference Library. I am also a member of Lancashire County Council Library and can use their on-line virtual library.
