Thank you so much J.J. That is the first time I have seen a reference to a Christine Martin anywhere. I have tried looking at the Canadian census records and not had any luck. Not looking in the right places, I guess. I wonder if it is her.HuhHuh I've not heard of a Dellina either. It looks like Christine is a widow in 1891. Carn't tell in 1881, but possible. Maybe Edwin moved over here when James died so as not to be a burden on Mum. (I could speculate all I want.)  I carn't see him comming by himself at the age of 11. That is toooo young. He had to have come with a brother or brothers.                     I did have a look at the Bruce Mines one a long time ago, and it was not the right one. Not Edwins parents. Is there a Births Deaths and Marriages archives office in Quebec? with online records. I wonder when this Christine died. You are an angel, J.J. Thankyou. I am trying not to get toooo excited or my hope up it is her.   Chris.

If you take the widow JJ found back to the 1871 census she is widowed and living with Pierre, Ferdinand, Celeste, and Delina still in the same district.  There is a record of a marriage in Sillery (St. Colomb) between Edouard Bergeron and Celeste d/o Pierre Martin and Christine Baillargeon.  Celeste dies in 1879.  Then in Sillery (St. Colomb) 1890 there is the marriage of Honore Bergeron (brother of Edouard) to Delina Martin d/o Pierre Martin and Christine Baillargeon.  The marriage takes place with Delina's brother Ferdinand as witness.  This seems to rule out this family.
Information is from the Drouin records.

Hi Debbie and J.J.  Cry   I got all excited about maybe it was her. Never mind. It is very frustrating as I don't know any more info to give either. I would love to know the big secret, if there was one or maybe he just didn't talk about it to anyone and if he did, they are gone and the story has too. Bummer. I'll keep shovelling, Cheers, Chris.

Unfortunately the Drouin records are no longer accessible via ancestry.ca.  I enquired about what happened to them and Ancestry's reply was "they are assessing their rights to this content".  Any other leads with a Quebec basis won't be able to be ruled in or out at the moment.
