In the 1841 census in Ayr there's a 50 year old Thomas, nurseryman, and his assumed wife Caroline.  There's also 3 others with the surname IMRIE in the household who can reasonably be assumed to be kids.

Remember that 50 in 1841 can mean up to 54.

Unfortunately neither Thomas or Caroline appears to have survived to 1855 or later.

The deaths/burials database on ScotlandsPeople has two possible records in Ayr for a Thomas, which may show the spouse's name.
