thanks Mark  Smiley

I really am a beginner.

I suppose I should have said, first one I have been brave enough to submit. Had lots of disasters up to now, this one just came together for me.

Sorry. Embarrassed  bit misleading

Not a badge in sight.... infuriating Angry Angry

I enquired who wore a lanyard on the left shoulder and was told the Blues,[Royal Horse Guards] but think this may be wrong.

Will enquire further

This is an interesting photograph.

They call themselves the Old Sweats, but there's only one ranker among them.  None of the Flower of Youth here!!

I'd love to know what outfit they were. Lanyards on working dress point to Gunners and Cavalry normally, though on parade dress, all sorts wear them.  I wonder whether he moved from one unit to another later on, but there would normally be a badge of some sort.  Very puzzling.

I wonder if they actually worked the railway Huh

hi chewboy, I was told sometime or other that machine gunners removed all insignia because they were shot if seen to be m/c gunners. dont know about this lot though, seem a bit old. Trouble is, these photos were in a box of my aunts that my sister put into storage when my aunt died a few years ago and there  is no one left alive now who knew anyone, except the few me and my sister knew or met. thank you for your interest, john.
