hi. I have another batch of photos from my aunts belongings that have been in storage for a few years, amongst them is this photo that could be one of three people, I just have to work it out. A date and possibly regiment/type of the uniform would help, but I will be happy with just a tidy up of the photo as it is in such a poor state, if that is possible I would be grateful, thankyou, john.

hi John,
is it possible to post a larger copy that hasn't been compressed please. I know you have successfully scanned it at 300dpi but it has been compressed when you resized it right down to 50.4kb making any restore more difficult to do clearly.
Or you can send me a copy of the original scan and I will repost for you...email addie in my profile thanks Jenny

oh ok, when you scanned it you probably forgot to select best quality (no compression)
With epson, the place to change this setting is after you press scan, the next window where you enter your new file name, there is a button called jpeg options. If you press this, you will be able select quality using the slider... it needs to be right over to best quality/ 0 compression. click ok to come out then proceed as normal.
I'm not sure where the quality selection is on other makes scanner software
The resulting scan will be much larger than this, even for a tiny 1" photo.

John, I am very very new to restoring. I hope you do not mind me practising on your photograph. Alot still to learn, but have enjoyed my "first go".
