If someone has access to the transcript for Wilshamstead I'd be grateful for a look up for the following

10 March 1762 Baptism Mary Dilley dau of William and Hannah. Is there anything extra? Does the transcript indicate if this particular entry is from the PR or the BT, as I understand the PR is almost illegible

1768 Banns Is there an entry for William Dilley and Hannah Claridge of Yelden. Member submissions on the IGI show a marriage between these two people on 27 May 1768 at Yelden, with births of William Dilley at Willhampstead 25 years earlier, which implies to me that the marriage might be real with William being of the parish of Willhampstead

Got it in one John! Sometimes a query gets me more interested than is good for me, and I can't let it go. I've helped others in the past with Dilleys in St Neots, and it would be nice to close the circle on Wilstead and St Neots via Yelden

I've just found the Yelden transcript has been retranscribed onto http://www.rushdenheritage.co.uk/Yelden/PRs-yelden.html
a rather nice site. It confirms what I thought about the marriage - that William Dilley was of Wilshamstead. But was Mary baptised 6 years earlier in Wilshamstead really their daughter? Doesn't seem right.

Ugh! I've just noticed the marriage was by licence so don't bother looking for the banns! But I may be too late as you've already been on this morning and logged off 10 minutes ago so you're probably on your way into town at the moment. See you on the 3rd

Sorry David - didn't go to town yesterday morning & next Saturday I'm at the Houghton Regis History Day (where BFHS have a stand) & the next Saturday I am in Crete. See you on the Fri 10th (not 3rd) at the Archives & we can look it up together. ah !!!

Hello,

I did go into Bedford early on Saturday, I was queuing up before 9am to get into the library.

This entry in the Wilhamstead baptism is a bit questionable, it is the last entry before the statement "No further entries in the register for 1762 & 1763. The following entries are taken from the Bishops Transcript"

10/3/1762 ?Thomas son of William & Hannah Dilley

The previous line is undated and is ?Mary daughter of James & Elizabeth Odell

Note the ? before both Thomas & Mary

Thanks John. Obviously room for interpretation here, as the IGI shows ?Thomas in 1862 as being Mary!
