Kris, I am fairly certain that this is the correct individual. I checked the Index to Civil Registration (BMD), and there were two Hannah Reads listed for Frome district in the birth register: 1840 & 1842. I arrived at the 1838 date from the census, which I don't always trust for supplying accurate ages. Also, Hannah and her husband, Henry, had a daughter named Sarah, which was Hannah's mother's name. Not that that proves anything by itself but it does tend to make the case a bit stronger that the Hannah you found was the correct one. Thanks very much. Jim

Uncanny - one of my GG Grandmothers is Hannah Reed married to Stephen Henry Read (they called him Henry) - they had a daughter Sarah and Hannah's mother was also called Sarah!
Problem is Reed was her married name and she was born Hannah Emery in Cannock in 1834!
In case its any help whilst tracing that side of the family the surname spelling fluctuated wildly - Reed, Read, Reade, Rheade, Rhede, Rheed, Rhead & Reid - nightmare!
