Still Looking for Goodwin, Maidstone?
« on: Wednesday 21 June 06 11:21 UTC (UK) »

Hi All,

I have the birth of James Goodwin born 14 May 1795 to John and Elizabeth Goodwin. Baptised July 1795 at All Saints Maidstone (with much appreciation to bearkat  Kiss).

I would like to find the marriage of John Goodwin and Elizabeth ...... and hope it may be in Maidstone (possibly All Saints).

I don't know if they had any other children which makes any estimate on a date of marriage, just a guess.

Any assistance much appreciated.

Thanks
Di

Hi All,

If anyone can offer any suggestions on this missing marriage record (or the parents of the bride and groom) I would be very grateful.

Much appreciated

Thanks

Thanks bearkat,

Everyone found is a bonus as it means there are still marriages unrecorded somewhere - so I continue to live in hope.

Really appreciate your help on this one

Regards

Hi Di

I have just been on the LDS we site and found this....
James Goodwin marriage to Elizabeth Hickmott
01 JAN 1810
All Saints, Maidstone, Kent, England
Batch Number: M020079

If its your James then he would have been a bit young but.....

Cheers Linda

Hi Linda,

Thanks for the James and Elizabeth marriage. As you say, he would have been a bit young but who knows. It's certainly worth following up though.

It's so frustrating that so many BMD's in Kent are not recorded anywhere (well, not the ones I've been looking for, anyway!)

Meanwhile, I'll just keep looking and hoping  Roll Eyes

I appreciate your help - thanks

I know you have your mind on your scavenger hunt at the moment but thought I would have another loook at this one for you.

The Mid Kent Marriage Index covers a large area of Kent.

http://woodchurchancestry.org.uk/midkentmarriages/index.php

I can only see these John & Elizabeth marriages with a surname anything like GOODWIN. Huh

1761  John GOODEN Elizabeth PHILPOT at Chilham

1788  John GODDEN Elizabeth PAGE at Monks Horton

1803   John GOODWIN Elizabeth GOODWIN at Dymchurch

None of them look very promising.  Undecided

My apologies bearkat  Embarrassed

I have only just seen your reply to my earlier message.  Roll Eyes
(amazing what shows up after a bit of system reshuffling!)

Thanks so much for looking for James parent's marriage - yet again  Wink

I haven't looked at this lot for a while and your note has rekindled my interest.

Many thanks for the extra records.  Kiss

I'm sure that one day a miracle will happen and I'll have all the Goodwin answers  Cheesy  Undecided

Di

(I even made the 1000 mile journey to visit James' grave and ask him a few questions - didn't help though!!)
