If not, a post on the armed forces board should get an answer for you.

Thanks Evie - Can I ask what combination did you use to search 1911c,
Thanks Osprey - haven't seen this info. or site before could prove very helpful.
Thanks Arranroots for moving the post.
Will take another look at 1911c, one thing I realized is I've put the wrong surname it should be JONES - it must be the weather, lack of concentration, so many Thomases in the family, my brain is frazzled
Thanks everyone for your input - appreciated

Hi
The transcript I have for my George Kirby does go in alaphabetical order (I have 1 page of names), I presume, and the only Jones in the 2BN is a John. May I ask where your Thomas Jones was born?
To find George I just put his year of birth +/- 3 years and his place of birth which fortunately was correct. In the keywords I put Welch Regiment and he was the only one that appeared.

Hi Evie,
All I had to go on before I started was a picture with Thomas in his uniform signed Sjt. T Jones 1918.
Would he have been overseas I wonder

Have answered my own question !!! From the Welch Regiment Museum fact sheet no. C4 it lists 2nd bn Welch Regiment locations 1881 - 1946.
February 1910 - 25 September 1912 Pembroke Dock (Public Duties, London 1910 and 1912) - so not overseas
Still having no luck - how I wish he had an unusual name
I'll keep looking may get lucky

Hi
I wonder if his name has been transcribed wrong Having said that it is not an unusual name. I wonder if he had a middle name and is using that?
How did you find out he was in the Boer war in 1901?
So he must be somewhere, unless of course he was in a different regiment at that time.
