Hello all,

it has been a while so I thought I might ask around(!)

I am looking for information on George William Barnard/Barnett/Barnet born in 1889 who was married in Walsingham to a Harriet Girling.  He lived in Barney and spent a lot of time in Norwich, I believe as a cabbie or chauffeur.  I do have some dates already but am really interested in what happened from 1900 to the family.

He spent some time in Norwich prison in or around 1925 and then vanishes!

Although I have asked before, if anyone has any information on him or his brothers (Joseph and Bertie Barnet (sic) I would be very interested.

Hello - George William Barnard was my great uncle.  I have been a bit tardy in replying to your post as I had to go to Norwich and check out some information at the Records Office.  My suspicions were confirmed  and I found his prison record.  Jailed 15 December 1925 for bigamy and released 2 June 1926.  (Not that long, I thought he would have been imprisoned for longer).  His age was 31 and height 5'9 1/2 inches.  He had a previous conviction 249.11 in book 11 but I regret I didn't have time to check that one out!!  When he was released from prison he went home to Barney and lodged with various relatives until his death in 1970s (I think).  I do recall him from my childhood and have some photos of him.  He and Harriet did not have any children together.  What happened to Harriet I do not know either.  Hope this fills in a (very) few gaps.  Have attached photo of George and Harriet perhaps in happier times - I always thought it was their wedding photo.
