looking for john robertson

Hi
     I am looking for tips about finding my grandad john Robertson of Leith. As my dad was born on "the wrong side of the blanket" as it were and refused to discuss the subject when alive. my mum Margaret nee Rarity told me that John Robertson was his dad and that he had died around 1952 as my sister Linda was still in her pram.
So with this info I tried to find a John Robertson who was a Hammer-man(Blacksmiths labourer) in Leith who died around 1952 at between 55-60 years old but no joy my mum said he stayed at Tollbooth Wynde in Leith but other than that i cannot trace him in register house

Hi Andy

The Scotlands People site  has 3 possible deaths for a John Robertson - all Leith:

1950, aged 64
1951, aged 47
1954, aged 58

Do any seem possible?

Of course, it might be that he died elsewhere in Edinburgh and would therefore have been registered in the district that he died in.

Here are 2 in 1952, both George Square:

John Victor D Robertson, aged 65
John Wilson Robertson, aged 55

                Thanks for the advice me thinks you could be right that he was registered in an another district becouse I checked out the Leith area and the JRs did not match
