Hi Jenn
Thank you for that quick reply. You must be up early in the morning!!!!!
What a complicated young lady Elizabeth was!!!!!
Did she come to Australia as Elizabeth Pitt or Elizabeth Walker?--- don't see an obvious candidate
Did she marry a William Walker in Australia before she married Jan
or was the father William invented to give an appearance of legitimacy!!!!!!

Why do these complicated questions arise always just as I'm going to bed and set my mind buzzing!!!!!!

Thanks again.

Yes an early riser.

It will be interesting to see if you  get this birth certificate for 1863  when  the child was born  as Jan Koestveld and Elizabeth were also married n 1863

No sign of a marriage to a Walkert in Australia?  many unanswered questions here

Hi Jenn
Ahhhh! now those are two interesting questions!!!!!!!

On her marriage to Jan Koetsveld it says that she was a spinster, 24 years old (born 1839) and was born in Welland in Worcestershire. Her parents were William Walker, a carpenter, and Susan Pitt. The date of death on her gravestone in Daylesford also indicates she was born in 1839. Jan & Elizabeth were married 12 Oct 1863 in Daylesford, don't know yet when William Henry was born.

I have found a marriage cert for William Walker, carpenter, and Susannah Pitt married at Powick WOR in 1840. So she SHOULD  have a birth registered at the GRO, and should appear on the 1841 census, but neither that I can find. I have found what appears to be her parents in Tewkesbury in the 1841 census but no child with them and she isn't living with her grandmother either. If she was born in 1839 then her birth would have been registered as Elizabeth Pitt.
We don't think that she married a William Walker in Australia. Perhaps she added her father's name to appear to give legitimacy to the child.
or perhaps, being kinder to her, she mistook the column headed father's name as meaning her own father.

Just to add a little from what I gather are "family stories". Her parents died when she was very young and she was brought up by an aunt named Olerenshaw in Coventry, (there are Olerenshaws in and around Coventry but none with Elizabeth with them in 1851) and she came out to Australia as a governess or child nurse.
Doesn't answer your questions definitely but does tell you all I know at the moment.
I have looked at the passenger lists for assisted and unassisted passengers to Victoria, but I couldn't find anything that I could say was certain.

Thanks for your interest.
best wishes
Eric
