At the birth of the children of John (Jan, Johan van) Koetsveld, in Victoria, his wife's name is given as Elizabeth Miriam Walker. From the dates of birth of the children the marriage should have been about 1864, probably in the Daylesford area, but I have not been able to find it. I would be very grateful if anyone has any information, or might suggest other sites I could search, as I would like to get a copy of the certificate.
regards Eric

Many thanks Jenn and there was I wondering if a Jan Koesveld born in Schliedam in 1837 could be the same as Koestveld in Victoria, and then the name on the marriage cert is Korsveld!!! They didn't go out of their way to make things easy for us!!!!!
I still get a zero results when I search with the changed spellings and the reg no. Could you please let me know where you got the info from, so I can order a cert?
I had found, with some help, the details on his naturalisation, which was great, and I'm reasonably certain we now have his birth, parentage, and a couple of generations back from a Schliedam web site.
regards Eric
We might get to Townsville in the autumn (ours), if everything goes according to plan!!!!

Hello there Eric
You are more than welcome. I could find the marriage first look but them looked for the brides name and there it was.
Do you need any thing further on this family ie deaths marriages of children etc.?
Now why are you coming to Townsville?

Hi Jenn I have the birth years and registration numbers of the couples 11 children!!!!!which I got from the Victoria Pioneers disc last time we were visiting. I have also got the death and burial dates of John, Elizabeth and one of their sons in Daylesford cemetery, and the marriages of the children I am most interested in. I also downloaded John's will from the internet. The naturalisation papers you mentioned show that he was born in Schiedam in Holland about 1838 and the Schiedam births and marriages are also on the internet, though I did have to learn a few words of dutch! There is there a birth of a Jan Koesveld in 1837 and it gives his parents' names. Really to tie him to these completely I need his parents' names from the marriage cert. Then I have the family back another couple of generations in Holland.
We are thinking of coming to Australia in the autumn to see the family in Victoria and thought we might come up to Queensland as we haven't been there before. The family think we ought to come to Queensland either earlier or later as it won't be so hot and humid. It can't be much worse than it has been here for the last few days. We have had temps up in the 30s and 95%+ humidity. I have always coped with the high temps in Australia when we have been over before as the humidity is usually much lower than it is in England. One year we went to Adelaide. It was 38+ quite pleasant. Then we went into the glasshouse where they have a rain forest climate. The temp was down to 25 but the humidity was very high and we were immediately soaked in perspiration.
We live in Warwickshire and I don't see any of your families from this area, but if there is anything I might be able to do for you, please let me know Please excuse the rambling, its the Wimbledon semi final with Andy Murray and I can't bear to sit and watch!!!!!!!!! Best wishes
Eric Eric

Hello there Eric
Thank you for your kind offer for family in warwickshire, found none yet but will bear it in mind.
https://online.justice.vic.gov.au/bdm/index-search?action=getHistIdxSearchCriteria
you can purchase and download the marriage certificate on the internet for under $20 (Aus) or you can have it mailed to you. You may allready be aware of this but thought I would mention it to you.
May I ask which side of the family are you most interested in please? Koetsveld or Walker.
The spring in North Qld is not too bad but to Southerners they do seem to find the humidity daunting which in summer it can be just awfull.
On this site you will see an entry for KOETSVELD, as this site was set up some years ago I have no idea whether or not the contact email will still be valid. The best way to search is to click on K and then on the 4th page you will find Koetsveld... good luck with it.

Hi Jenn, Can I ask to see if you can help me with a new problem? I'm still working on the Koetsveld family, but now on Jan's wife Elizabeth Mirriam (miriam?). I have the details from their marriage cert. Elizabeth says her parents were William Walker and Susannah , nee Pitt. I have got a marriage cert for William and Susannah who were married about the time Elizabeth says she was born.
Now I have been told that Elizabeth had a child William Henry Walker 2 years before she married Jan Koetsveld. Jan seems to have taken the child when he married Elizabeth as when the child was killed in an accident the name is given as William Henry Koetsveld.
I have been onto the site you gave me to look for the birth.
It is giving me 1 match, if I enter the child's name as William Henry Walker, year 1863, mother's name Elizabeth Pitt. If I then add the father's name as Walker or William there is no match!!!!! Is there any way you can easily find anything more on this birth, before I go and order a copy of the cert.
best wishes
Eric
