Camrie Farm

I was researching "Honeypig" for a fellow Rootschatter and I came upon Camrie Farm. I have since learned that some of my relatives may have been living there during the early 1900s. Can anyone throw any light on the occupants at that time, or even earlier. Is it possible to search for a place without names of people. It would have been either Marshalls or Willamsons possibly.
Camrie Farm is opposite Honeypig, near Glen Luce, Wigtownshire.
I just wondered if someone could come up with something tangible.

Hi Judy
Camrie Farm now seems to be the operating centre for Alan Baillie and partners. The addresses given are Camrie House and Camrie Farm. so you may have to search for both options.
I found a website which had a John Rodie living at Camrie farm in the 1861 census. He was a ploughman.
An Alexander McLean may have been born on Camrie Farm in 1892 ( based on someone else's research) http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/read/SCT-WIGTOWNSHIRE/2001-10/1003677329 http://listsearches.rootsweb.com/th/read/MACLEAN/2001-05/0991112116
The National Archives of Scotland have a plan of Garvilland Farm from 1868 which also contains Honeypig and Camrie and a couple of other properties. ref RHP141086 It was used in a Murder trial!
There are several entries on google from people "of Camrie" Do you think they are all from that farm, or just from the area? Surnames include Ferguson and Kelly.

Thanks for the reply Kirsty.
I may well look into the McLean name. The others don't ring a bell though sadly.
Is it possible to search on SP for a place name on census records as you can for England and Wales, do you know?
Thanks again.

Not that I am aware. I think you always have to enter a surname. It's a pity that Freecen have not finished transcribing Wigtownshire yet as you can at least search by enumeration district etc on there.

2020? They rely on volunteers, so the more people who sign up to help the sooner it will get done! I know there are already quite a few Rootschatters who are involved.
