Hi iang

Still digging !

Just wondered if you'd made contact with the researchers at the worldconnect site ?   There are two ... possibly three, who have "trees" which include your James and Christina NAIRN  (and their descendants in NZ)  ?

Hi

.....    just a little more  ....

Have just spoken to the Early Settlers Museum at Petone (they're in my "neighbourhood").     Essentially what you see on their online database, is about as much information (I am told), as they have.    However, at the Museum itself, they have an inter-active display (on early settlers) which sometimes offers a few more snippets of info - some of which has been contributed by descendants ( and who in a few instances, have left their contact details).

The museum attendant checked a little further - sadly they have no passenger list for the "Indian Queen" ... and although they have a note of the arrival of "James NAIRN", alongside his name is the word "Anon".    (So, no further information on him, nor an indication of who supplied the details).

I have also just located the name of another James NAIRN (of Sanson), researcher - am hoping her e-mail addy is still valid ?      Will however send you the contact details, via a PM.

Hi Bren

A good question !    Bit of a "curly" one  too.   Grin
Can't answer it with certainty either.

Archives (Wellington) in their helpful little booklet (" Card Indexes") suggest that more information can be found in the help-binders (in finding aids section)  .... or "ask the desk archivist".    Roll Eyes      (Dates of passenger and immigration lists which have been indexed, also given in booklet.)

Incidentally, all those "shelves and shelves of boxes" (or the "boxes on those shelves and more shelves"  ) I thought, contained the REPRO passenger lists .    Huh

[Now have a link for a chap who apparently holds a passenger list for "Indian Queen"  ....   am awaiting his return email].

I am also searching for a list of passengers on the Indian Queen arriving in Wellington, New Zealand in January 1857. In particular, I am interested in the names Glover and Walker.

Hi babclive

Have added a response on the other thread (which carries that same message as the one you have placed here.)   Wink
