« on: Thursday 02 July 09 14:07 UTC (UK) »

Please can someone do a lookup for me on Richard Walsh born 1842 Darwen Lancashire  son of Richard Walsh b 1806  Darwen Lancashire and Mary, I think he married a lady called Hannah Whalley born 1837 Rishton and had a daughter called Mary born 1879, trying to see if there was more siblings to his marriage.
Thank you Linda

Where did the year of birth come from?

And is it siblings of MAry (other children of Richard and Hannah) you are wanting or siblings of Richard (other children of Richard and Mary)?

But it all seems a bit vague if you only "think"  Richard married Hannah Whalley!

Best to go one step at a time, verifying each step as you go.

If you find the DEFINITE marriage for Richard , then the cert will give his fathers name.
If you havent done this, nor have him on a census, I am not sure how you know his parents names and birth years too!!!!

Is this them in 1881?

If so, Mary was born approx 1869, not 1879, and at that stage does not appear to have siblings, at least not with the family.

Still following this Richard then - it seems that the link with Whalley is correct, so maybe getting that marriage cert will help confirm if his father was your gr gr grandfather or not?

1871
RG10 4189 137 16
5 Longshaw Head
Richard 31 cotton operative bn Darwen
Hannah 32 bn Blackburn
Matthew Whalley 10 son bn Little Harward
Mary Walsh 3 dtr bn Blackburn

looks like either Hannah was nee Whalley or had a previous marriage to a Whalley.

Looks very much like this Richard is at
RG9 3100 118 11
in 1861

19 yr old son, bn Darwen, cotton weaver, of a William (age 58) and Nancy  (age 46) Walsh. with lots of siblings.

But doesnt look as if he is a son of Richard bn 1806. Probably some relation though.
