Maybe they're not the ones after all? Then Thomas' name seems pretty unique. (Maybe the transcription is wrong and the old writing of 'ss' was mistaken for a p? I see the GRO has her name as Burgess)
Here they are with Thomas' parents in 1851 - any use?
1851 HO107/1919 166 30 St Just, Cornwall Carnyorth Richard Pryar, head, 41, Miner, b. St Just Cornwall Mary Ann, wife, 43, b. Penryn Thomas, son, mar, 20, Miner, b. Marazion Mary, d law, mar, 22, b. Breage Allace, dau, 11, b. Marazion Mary Ann, dau, 10, b. do. Elizabeth, dau, (age column shows a 3 in the male column and a 6 in the female), b. do. Richard, son, (no age shown - I'm guessing he should be 3), b. do.

I'm wondering if the witness Phillip Bargip should actually be Philippa Burgess:
1841 HO107/136 3 7 6 Breage, Cornwall William Burgess, 40, Tin Miner Elizabeth, 4 (she's 51 in 1851) Jane, 18 Phillipha, 16 Elizabeth, 14 Mary An, 12 William, 8 Hester, 5 John, 3

Hi Kris,
Many thanks for the info. It must have been a nightmare with all the different spellings that were used. I will have to think about different spellings when I look at the census and not just the given way. I appreciate the help you have given me many thanks.
Regards Annette.

Hi Tati,
Thanks for the update. It gets more confusing when the names are written in many ways. Looks like some of the children must have died with some having the same names, my what fun it will bewriting this all out. Thank you so much for the info. Regards Annette

Hi Annette,
Yes it certainly is a name with many variants
Philip BRYANT was buried 25 Sep 1834 St Hilary aged 6 months Philip BRYAR was buried 1 Mar 1836 St Hilary aged 7 months
Richard BRIAR died Jun 1/4 1838 Penzance 9 123 the nearest I can see for Mary Ann is Mary BRIAN Dec 1838 9 133
Cheers Kris

Hi Kris,
Thanks for the update. I have noticed that a lot of families gave children the same name after one died.
In your previous answer were the dates birth or Baptism dates?
Many thanks, as once again I have been helped by you.
Cheers Annette
