« on: Thursday 02 July 09 08:06 UTC (UK) »

hello,im trying to find the family of charles hambleton.according to 1891 census,he was born c1821,witheridge,devon and hes a toy stall proprietor with a travelling fair.on the 1881 hes a shooting gallery proprietor and no birthplace is given.on the 1901 his wife has remarried.there are charles hamiltons on earlier cencus, but none born witheridge and none with an obvious showman link.id be grateful if anyone can find a likely candidate for him, either as hambleton or variations, thanks, nel.

In 1881 he looks to be fairly recently married. (& with a 1829 birth year too)
Start with finding the cert for that

hello,i got this cert today, and it gives charles hambletons father as charles hambleton, travelling showman.ive had a look through all the census for a charles born 1780-1820,but cant see an obvious travelling showman.the marriage witnesses were herbert and horace spray/gray/grey if that gives any clues.if anyone can find anything on him or his father id be grateful, thanks, nel.

There is no need to keep info back.

When & where was this marriage?
What age(s) were given...

Well, it infers that the 1829 birth year is a better bet..
