A Xin says - this is far too small to do a good restoration
Although it is scanned at 300 dpi
May I suggest that you rescan at 600 dpi or even 1200 dpi
Use no compression - post as scanned
If you need any help Cazza has written a great tutorial
http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,198165.0.html

If you still have problems I'm sure any of the restorers would be willing assist

Well ....... you have made her look quite good ... a bit like Queen Mary? ......... could be she was your gran meg?.
I have looked close at the name with magnifying glass and the last five letters look like 'islie' and both 'i's seem to be dotted.
   ...OH .. I dont know!!

Yes, joboy, my gran was the Queen Mary,   Shocked Grin Grin

Gran was - Louisa Harriet Charlotte Allen, born Echuca - her sister, who had a similar look, was Georgina Allen.

None of which seem to resemble the name on your photo Grin Grin

Hi Joe
Unfortunately it's still small and pixellated
Is there no way you can manage a better scan ?

You need to have the scale set at at least 100%

Here's a diagram my OH made
