Can anyone help?
« on: Wednesday 01 July 09 18:35 UTC (UK) »

I m looking for information on Albert Edward Fowler who was born March 21, 1911 in Dublin.    That information is from his Military Discharge Record.  My husband was raised by an Aunt and her husband Albert Edward Fowler.    All he knew was that Albert's father was an upholsterer by trade and he was teaching his son the business when they had an argument and he left.    He emmigrated arriving in Ontario Canada (around 1927).  I know the family was Roman Catholic and his father was alive in the late 1920s 1930s because he sent money to Albert when he was sick.

Hello mimalere,

You should be able to get a birth certificate but I have looked at Irish births on here and that name is not showing.

You may want to check yourself.
The Dublin census for 1911 is also online (taken before his birth) you could look through ( a lot) the Fowlers to see if anyone is an upholsterer.

Do you have details of Albert Edward's marriage? I am assuming that was in Canada. Is the father's name entered on the certificate as in Ireland and England?

best wishes

Wonder if the details you have are correct.
There's an Albert Fowler, age 27, upholsterer, travelling on "Duchess of Bedford" from Liverpool, England arriving in St. John, N.B., Canada 5 Apr.1929- born Liverpool (England), father Henry Fowler, 79a Mt. Vernon St., Liverpool.
Perhaps Albert born in Liverpool, England and went to stay with uncle in Dublin?

The outward bound details on the Duchess of Bedford have

Albert Fowler, aged 16, C/o Catholic Emigration, Coleshill Birmingham.  (all down as farmers)

I think it is the same one as there is Catholic Emigration Party written on the top of the other one.

Thanks for the help and suggestions.  I'll move forward with what you have kindly supplied and/or suggested.  It is possible that he was born in the UK somewhere and moved to Ireland at an early age because even when I met him at age 57 his Irish accent was still quite strong.

Might be worth searching English 1911 census for Albert Edward Fowler (with father Henry) as he would have been born just before that census.
There's a thread here on hints for searching 1911-
