hello,
        looking for info on richard aquilar hall,his son was edward hall who was achief stewart on a ship possibly merchant navy.b @1861,i can't find anything so far he lived in liverpool i think.
 sorry to be so vague but it's for my next door neighbour who is in his eighties!

1861?
Is this Richard's birth date, his son's birth date or the census to which you (presumably) refer?

Edward Hall was listed as a Chief Steward in Gore's 1900 directory, living at 29 Stanford St, Liverpool S.

If you want to follow the merchant marine angle here is a good link - http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/militaryhistory/merchant/step5.htm. The Newfoundland lists are on a CD I think, and you could try the Liverpool Maritime Museum's website - http://www.liverpoolmuseums.org.uk/maritime/archive/, to see what they have.

hello,so sorry my 82 yr old neighbour got the surname wrong should have been williams not hall after i sent off for the marriage certificate i found out his scribbling was not quite right his mother was called lydia williams her father was called richard aquilar williams he ran a pub called the bridge inn childwall valley road liverpool,richards daughter,lydia was barmaid where she met and married edward hall according to albert,thanks so far-so difficult hall and williams,to find out edwards father would be good,
                                                             p.s. this is not for me its just a nice thing to do Smiley
