Date and tidy please if possible
« on: Thursday 02 July 09 15:19 UTC (UK) »

This is a family photo found when my Mum died, I have no idea who it is or when it was taken.

It is possibly from my Nevitt or Stevenson family.

Would it be possible to date and tidy it?

Thanks to all you clever people.

Hopefully we'll all get a better look if the restorers can brighten it a little, but from what I can see I'm thinking about 1905 or so...

Cheers,

Thanks China,

If it was Gran Nevitt that would make her 21, what do you think?

Possible, maybe a little older, out to 1910-ish, but after that those lace collars were gone and the Victorian taste in fashion accessories was moving to a more streamlined look. So, 1910 at the latest...my opinion, and you may get others Smiley

Here's a quick clean up so you can see the lady better.

Thanks folks, much appreciated.

This photo was in a small thick glass frame with a border of what looks like Mother of Pearl mosaic, it is badly damaged. I don't know if the style of frame helps with dating.

Don't think so...an estimate of 1905-1910ish is about the best you'll get...it's actually a rather narrow window... Smiley

Thanks Irene,

That is lovely, just wish I knew who she was!

I will have to send up to my cousin in Cheshire to see if she has any ideas.

Thanks Carolyn and Paula, they are lovely and so different.

I keep looking for a family resemblence, I think she is definately from my Father's side but not sure if she is a Nevitt or a Stevenson.

Much appreciated anyway,

Curttom.
