Batty Family
« on: Sunday 23 August 09 05:15 UTC (UK) »

My maternal grandfather was George Chorlton born 1866 in the Cheshire district.

George Chorlton & Beatrice Batty? Married?

1st child Amy died as an infant?

2nd child George worked Tatton Park, Knutsford.

Grandfather George snr. 2nd wife was Mary Love Rankine my grandmother.

Grandfather George snr. + new family emigrated to Australia after 1907.

 Any connection with your family?

Hi Doug and welcome to rootschat
You could try looking at www.freebmd.org.uk to see if you can find the marriage and Amy's death.   I have made this into a fresh topic for you as it was not really relevant to the Yorkshire one that you originally posted in.

Hi Doug & welcome
I've no connections with your family, as far as I know. I've done a little research & found the following, which I think may well be the people you refer to:

Birth Sept quarter 1865 George Chorlton Altrincham 8a 166; listed on CheshireBMD as in the Lymm sub-district

Marriage Sept quarter 1891 George Chorlton & Beatrice Bratt Altrincham 8a 288; listed on CheshireBMD as at St Mary's Rostherne. (This church is very close to Tatton Park). Noting the surname on both sites listed as Bratt, not Batty.

Death June quarter 1899 Beatrice Chorlton Bucklow 8a 152; listed on CheshireBMD as Lymm sub-district

Birth (best guess in line with the areas listed - would need certificates to confirm) Amy Chorlton March quarter 1897 Altrincham 8a 197; listed on CheshireBMD as Lymm sub-district in 1896 [guessing based on personal experience she was born late 1896 & registered early 1897]

Death (in line with birth, same caveats) Amy Chorlton March quarter 1899 Bucklow 8a 144 age 2; on CheshireBMD as Lymm sub-district no age noted

Birth (same caveats) George Chorlton Dec. quarter 1892 Altrincham 8a 189; CheshireBMD as Lymm sub-district

Marriage June quarter 1904 Bucklow 8a 387 includes George Chorlton & Mara Love Rankine ; on CheshireBMD as George Chorlton & Mara Love Raukine as St Mary's Rostherne. Noting both have her as Mary not Mara though the reading of the surname differs between the sources.

The FamilysearchLabs pilot site has some entries

Baptism of George Chorlton is listed as 1865 Rostherne son of George & Mary (no image)
Several entries on the Register of Electors for George
