I've been thinking about this for a few months - since I added "postems" for all "my" people on FreeBMD (England and Wales).
The FamilySearch site for Irish BMDs doesn't offer this facility. understandably. But, is there anyway we could set up a collection of lists of BMDs available? Maybe, something similar to the "unwanted certs" board?
It might include listings of names as well ... I haven't kept all my "wrong" photocopies, but I've noted the details.
I think to be useful, it would have to be vaguely alphabetical .. I wouldn't mind helping to keep it all tidy...
Any thoughts on this, anyone?

I have quite a collection of 'wrong' certs to add ... if we can figure out the best way to do it. I am sure plenty of people have unwanted details to add.
I can help out with any data-storage, processing etc and could also provide space on a webserver with a database to allow search functions if required.

I don't keep my wrong certs, but I do put an ENORMOUS red cross beside the Index details in my notebook -
I also put a big red tick beside the index details of the "correct" certs (I've been known to order a correct cert a second time, in a fit of forgetfulness, until I started this system)

I would be quite happy to post the unwanted certs I have and also, in amongst family details on copies of 1901/11 census, I have details of a few other individuals who were residing with the families but not actually related.

I dont know the sort of numbers involved but assuming, at least initially, that there are smallish numbers -
i.e. 20 - 50 people with 5 to 20 'unwanted' certs - then it should be manageable in a thread where each person adds their certs to their own post in an agreed format.
maybe outline details with something like :
Birth, 1867, Co. Wicklow, Rathdown, Andrew Fitzsimon
Marriage, 1847, Co. Offaly, Parsonsown, Joseph Murphy & Sarah Cantwell
Death, 1879, Balrothery, Co. Dublin, John Kavanagh,
I dont have the index details for all the certs I have - but it should be easy to re-find the cert in the index with the exact details. I also have some 'extra' parish records (transcribed from NLI films etc) - which might be worth including.

I agree, i frequently run a search to see if any family related material or info has been added and filtering is an issue.
I think that this should be country level at least if not at county.
I would be happy to participate in any admin, that said i think a structure as suggested would aid all entries - that said. i think ALL posts should contain the SURNAME sought rather than the ambiguous ' help need ... looking for help etc!! Sorry, just stepping down from my soap box

There is a standard for the entries on those boards which most people follow. This is specified in the stickied subject "how to use this board"
To find your name in the correctly formatted entries simply click once on the heading of the subject column and it will be sorted into alphabetical order.
If there is an issue with Irish entries then provided people put Ireland in the heading then the rootschat search facility can be used to search for them.

This is a recurring topic theme.
Many years ago a discussion about unwanted certificates led to the "Unwanted certificates" boards being set up.
We have the boards now, and we are not going to repeat them for every country and county.
As David says, there are guidelines how to use the boards, and if you put the surname in the topic title, then you can always sort the boards by title.
Or, you can use the RootsChat search facility:
- uncheck all boards
- check just the "unwanted certificates" boards
- search for your name(s).
