Has anyone got the baptism records for St Alphege Greenwich and could help me find these children
James Thomas Ball 1849
Emily Ann Ball 1853
Susan Ball 1857/58
Richard Ball born 14-7-1859
I know the first child was born to Richard James Ball and Elizabeth Weller
and the last child was born to Richard James Ball and his 2nd wife Jane Pilgrim ne Webb
its the 2 children in the middle I am trying to find out who thier mother was as I cannot find a death for the 1st wife Elizabeth and he did not marry 2nd wife Jane till 1863
would be most grateful if anyone can find the children's baptism's

Hi. I live in Preston and originate from Gravesend.Speaking to my aunt in Gravesend 2 days ago,and she asked me if I could find any information on her friend ,who was given away at birth. She knows she was born in Northfleet Kent.I have found her baptism and it gives her mother as Ellen Ball,only one I can find, Ellen Ball born Northfleet1904, and baptized Northfleet, was the Daughter of John James Ball and Emma Baker,.John James Ball born Northfleet, was the son of James Ball a Waterman Bargeman born Greenwich1849 and married to Jane,1901 Census living Northfleet,1891 living Steroid Kent.I am sure this is the James you are looking for. 1881 Census gives as Mate on the Sailing Barge (Lady Edith) lying at Steroid.Hope this helps Joncat

thanks for the info, yes it is the same family only I did not know that James's daughter Ellen had a daughter that she gave away.

Kathleen Beatrice-daug-1
that is the only Ellen Ball living in Northfleet in 1911 so it must be the one you are after.

Hi Jan, When I spoke to the lady, said that the people who brought her up mentioned College Street,and that her mum was very young and in service in Strood when she had her. At first I was thinking of Jane Annie only being 17 at the time.then found out on the church records it was Ellen 20. She has only had a short birth certificate all her life, and the name Ball was scratched out and the name of the people who brought her up inserted. She was not legally adopted.At 84 she is now going to Strood to get a long certificate I will let you know how it go's on.
Other info ,
Ellen Ball Baptised December 25th 1904 John James and Emma 56 Buckingham Road Northfleet. Father, Cement Labourer.
Jane Annie Baptised October 6th 1907,James and Emma 16 Tooley Street Northfleet . Both Baptised St Boltophs Northfleet
Can find no trace of Kathleen. All the best John

Hi Jan, You also have John Thomas Ball, John James and Emma, Baptised 7th October 1906, then living at 5 Mayfield Road ,Perry Street ,Northfleet, Record shows John James is now a Stevedore
John James and Emma married 15th March 1903 he 20 and living 57 York Road Northfleet, and she 19 and living at 3 York Road, Her father was George Baker and recorded him as a Waterman
One of the witness's was John's sister Isabell Ball.
Both baptism and Marriage took place at St Boltoph's Northfleet

I must explain that I was doing this Ball family for my friends 2nd cousin who lives in Maidstone, unfortunatley I had already posted the family file I had done just before you 1st emailed me so have not got all the details now.
what I can tell you is
Richard Ball married Charlotte Lewis
theirs son was Richard James Ball who married Elizabeth Weller [1st wife]
their son was James Thomas Ball who married Mary Pearson James Thomas was a waterman and met and married Mary in Durham and brought her back to Northfeet
their daughter was Jane Elizabeth Ball who married Bertie Chilmaid.
their daughter was Dorothy Mary Chilmaid whose child I was doing this tree for.
I can give you marriage dates fo all of them if you want

Emily Ann BALL (born 13 Mar) & James Thomas BALL (born 14 Jun 1849) baptised Greenwich St Alfege 18 May 1853 children of Richard James & Elizabeth of Lamb Lane, waterman.
Susan (born 21 Dec) dau of Jane PILGRIM baptised St Alfege Greenwich 14 Jan 1857 - Lamb Lane, single woman.
