Sorta Foxed
« on: Sunday 05 July 09 21:33 UTC (UK) »

I have a friend who is researching in Mumby Lincoln.
As she was going through burials many entries had
BN after them. Does any one know what this means?
Is it a place in or near Mumby. Having wild guesses here.

Hi, Eds,

The only BN abbreviation that I've come across stands for Battalion.

Is this relevant to your friend's research?

I've come across this question in another forum the other day ... perhaps it would be worth posting this so that people can see what you mean
http://freereg.rootsweb.com/cgi/SearchResults.pl?RecordType=Burials&RecordID=1877242

It clearly doesn't mean Battalion or Born.  Buried Nearby was another suggestion.

There's nothing around Mumby at http://www.old-maps.co.uk/IndexMapPage2.aspx that abbreviates to BN

Just throwing another suggestion into the pot - could it be Buried Non-comformist, I am not sure if the non-conformist chapels at Mumby had a burial ground of it's own.
