No4 Coy RGA Gibraltar 1911
« on: Saturday 04 July 09 21:57 UTC (UK) »

I'm after some help again please.

Following from my previous post regarding the 110th Hvy Btty RGA I have had some luck on the 1911 census regarding my Great Grandfather.

It looks like he was in the RGA prior to the outbreak of the war serving with No 4 Coy RGA in Gibraltar, is there anybody out there who can give me some information on which battery this may have been or, point me in the right directionof where to find it?

Hello David,

From what I can deduce, pre-WW1, the RGA was divided into Batteries and Companies, the Batteries possibly employing the heavier guns (based on info from the link below).

No.4 Company were still in Gibraltar in July 1913, (from Stations of Units) and according to the link below, at the outbreak of war.

Thanks for that Phil.

Do you have the link for the "Stations of Units"?

Hello David,

It's somewhere on an old GWF thread on Artillery service numbers, but is an attachment, so will only be readable if you are registered.

Phil,

I'm registered on the GWF as I've put this post up there as well, I'll have a search around for it.

Thanks
