Thomas Watkins b. 1890 Tredegar
« on: Tuesday 25 January 05 17:26 UTC (UK) »

Thomas Watkins b. 1890 Tredegar M. Elizabeth Jane Morgan b. 1891 on Mar. 11 1912 in the Parish Church, Bedwellty. They lived at 6 Park Row Tredegar. Is the house still standing? What is the alternate/common name of the church and are there any other church records that could be related to this family? I am guessing that Thomas is the son of Daniel Watkins who in the 1901 census is living at Cefngolan Cottage Tredegar. Is there a burial recorded for his wife between 1895 [her last child] and 1901 [Daniel widowed].
Any answers to any questions gratefully accepted. Thanks Jim

Hi Jim

Here's a link that will take you  to a site about St. Sannan's Parish Church Bedwellty.

Also take a look at Monmouthshire Lookup Offers.  MI offers are offered there by Caroline.

Hi Jim
Am a little bit confused  re the reference to Richard
and also Daniel widower.
The only Thomas aged 1 i could find in Bedwelty 1891
was the son of DANIEL 30  AND JEMIMA. 29
If you need the rest of the enumeration let me know,
Free bmd has the death of a Jemima Watkins as follows

Qu ended March 1901
Jemima Watkins 40  Bedwelty 11a 97

Hi Rhys...many thanks for the prompt reply. That sounds like the right family. There should be other children David b.1883, Jane b.1885 and Daniel b. 1887. There were further children after the 1891 census, William b. 1893 and Joseph b.1895. Any further information would be most welcome...Thanks Jim

Brilliant stuff...many thanks. I have links in the 1881 census that may be Daniel's family. Thomas 64, Sarah 55, Francis 24, DANIEL 20, Sarah 17 & Richard 15.  Is there any way of confirming this on line? Probably need a birth certificate for Daniel...is anyone doing look ups for  1851/61/71 census? Jim

Rhys...I went to the FRC in London yesterday to get the marriage cert. of Daniel and Jemima...I found several Daniel Watkins, but as I didn't know Jemima's maiden name, I couldn't cross reference it!...Thanks a million for that piece of info...Jim
