Hi
A friend of mine has her grandfather born in Bolgelley, North Wales in 1858. Could this be Dolgellau? He is John Evans, and his parents were Robert and Margaret. Any help with this would be welcome.

It looks highly likely, Mary. Dolgellau was spelled Dolgell(e)y until the 1960s as far as I can recall.

Do you have any more  dates or occupations for the family?

Thanks Gadget. No, only John's sons born 1893 and 1901 in Cape Town where John married.

I think I have found the family in the 1851 if it is Dolgellau, thanks.
