Hi

Edward Halford and Mary Ann Smith married in Dec 1881, Burton on Trent, 6b page 524. I am trying to establish whether they are the Edward and Mary I am looking for, and would be grateful if anyone could provide any further information on them - ages, occupations, parents names etc. The Edward I am looking for would have been about 22 in 1881, and his father was also named Edward.

I know I could get the marriage certificate but am reluctant to order this unless I am more confident that they are the right couple, so would be really grateful if anyone having access to such records would be willing to check first please.

Hi

Marriages found on freebmd cannot be looked up for further info.  Certificates need to be purchased.  It is only possible to lookup a marriage if the church in which it took place is known

This marriage has been transcribed on www.staffordshirebmd.org.uk so the church is shown

You can apply for a copy of the cert to the Register office and put a condition on your application that you only want it if Edwards father was also called Edward etc

If it does not match - they will not charge you

Go to www.staffordshirebmd.org.uk and select marriages

Turn up the 1881 entry and click on the ref number in the right hand corner 201/01/320

On the next page - again click on the ref number and you will then be able to print off a prepared application form
