« on: Wednesday 01 July 09 11:16 UTC (UK) »

Have the birth of my grandfather John Clulo 1st Sept.1874,Hatton, Derby, Counties of Staffs & Derby.
Have the birth of his brother William, 6th Feb. 1973, Tutbury, Staffs.
Have the birth of their sister Annie 22nd Nov. 1875, Hatton, Tutbury, Staffs.

That is all the info. on the certs.
Is there any way of discovering an actual address, street name or similar?

In the 1871 census Ann Kay their mother was living at Cornmill Lane Tutbury, with her sister and bro. in law Lilian and John Bacon[glass cutter]

Ann Kay married James Clulo in Tutbury 18th May 1872. Residence for both was Tutbury. Undecided

In the 1871 census James was living in M/C, mistranscribed as Child[!] at 18, Elizabeth St. Both he and father William were Glassmakers.

Hi

Baptismal records might just give an address. .

Have you tried the Staffordshire look up exchange for baptisms. http://freespace.virgin.net/willen.hall/sts.html

Tutbury is famous for it's crystal glass

Thank you! I did visit Tutbury some years ago, and went to the glass museum. I bought my mother a small crystal vase, as a memento of her father's birth place.
I will try the site you recommend.

Hi Kooky

Let us know how you get on.

it's worth a try but I have a feeling the Parish registers won't give exact addresses because of Tutbury being such a small village.

I have sent an e-mail. I thought it was worth a try!

I intend spending a few days in Staffs./Derbyshire next year and would like to see the actual house where my grandfather was born.
It's just a whim! Roll Eyes

Thank you for your help. I will post any results on here.

Hi Kooky

Up to now the only address given is Ann in Cornmill Lane on the 1871 census. You might be able to find the house she was living in (unless you already have) if it is still standing.

Even if you can't find an actual address for your grandfather's birth place you should be able to narrow it down to a few houses that were standing in Hatton in 1874.

On National Archives I can find Hatton School register but sadly that dates from 1882.

Thank you for your interest. I am aware of the Cornmill Lane address. When I visited I did not have that info!

I have received an e-mail from The Staffs look up exchange. The person who does look ups for Tutbury is away for a week, but he will get back to me when he returns. So far so good. Smiley

I'm pleased to hear that the Staffs look up exchange got back to you.  They are all volunteers on there & seem quite willing to help if you can provide specific details of who you are looking for, which you can.
