Do you have John Joseph Wrights marriage certificate as this should give the fathers name. I see on freebmd that the options for husbands for Sarah Ann E Jordan are John Bullimore and John Wright (No middle name given).
Where have you got Johns place of birth as Grantham from as the one Summersage has was born Ropsley on the 1861 and Somersby 1871.

Thanks for your help I have the info on John Joseph and the copies of the census showing him with wife Sarah but it  is his parents that I am actually looking for

Hi roseoil,
John Joseph's marriage cert will give his father's name and occupation- also the same info for Sarah's father.

You can then hunt down his parent's marriage and his father's birth etc.

I don't know if this will help or hinder your search but I found this info on Ropsley Parish records Reel 820 page 20.Marriages.

November 20th 1843

John Wright aged 19  Batchelor  Colsterworth.Father Edward Wright.Labourer.
Jane Palmer aged 21  Spinster   Little Humby.Father  Thomas Palmer.Labourer.

Both left mark. Witnesses.Thomas Palmer signed.Charles Cropland left mark.

You have two ways to clarify who the father is, either the marriage cert or the birth cert, ideally having both will be better still.

As Rosie asked earlier, do you have the marriage certificate?

Thank you all for your help I have a friend who is getting the birth cert for me and we are now waiting for this to arrive hopefully that will clear up the mystery and then she is going to check the parish records as well thank you all once again
