I'm having trouble locating this institution in the 1911 census. Can anyone tell me the name of the road/street/anything else which will assist me in finding it?. Please ........

Hi, Llwyd,

Have you seen this?

http://www.workhouses.org.uk/

It gives rough idea of the location, which you may be able to narrow down with a map.

From info on the Workhouse site , it`s now a Meditation centre  Roll Eyes
I bet the poor inmates didn`t have much time for that.

This could be it, the position of the railway seems to match the map.

Thanks for assistance but I still can't find the name of the road/street where it is located, which seems to be required for searching the 1911 census.

I`ve think I`ve  got it in 1911. Try this.
For street = Forden
County = Montgomeryshire.
Residential Place = Union Workhouse.
This gave the following
1 results found. You searched for:
Address FORDEN
County Montgomeryshire
Residence UNION WORKHOUSE

Residential place
This field draws matches from a number of other search fields: address, locality name, institution name, vessel name, parish name, street name, registration sub-district name, registration district name, and registration county name.

I`ve not used it myself to find people, but if you get the whole list of the inmates then that must be good value, I`ve heard of people  spending
`loadamoney` on the wrong Jones, Davies etc.
Can you tell us if you do, then I might consider trying the Bersham Union for local interest..

I had five pages of persons resident in the Workhouse, but there was a charge of 10 credits per page to view the transcript, so it could prove expensive es[ecially if you want to view the originals.I only needed the first page though. Thank you once again.
