Walsh / Walch / Welsh family of Manchester Lancs & Bamford Derbyshire
« on: Sunday 28 December 08 21:05 UTC (UK) »

I'm looking for anyone who might have more information on or be descended from this large family:

Martin Walsh born Manchester abt 1805
His wife Sarah Tomlinson born Manchester abt 1810
and their ten children,
Thomas abt 1828-
Jane abt 1830-
James abt 1833-
Mary abt 1834-
John abt 1837-
Fanny abt 1841-
(all born in Manchester), and
Martin abt 1843-
Hannah abt 1845-
Susannah abt 1846-
(born after the family moved to Bamford in Derbyshire), and
Joseph born 1850 nr Bolton Lancs

Have seen the name spelled "Walsh" "Walch" & "Welsh". Most of them were cotton mill workers; Martin became a mill manager in Bakewell. Joseph (my gr gr grandfather) eventually ended up in Settle Yorkshire. Would love to know where the family originally came from, and if there are any more living descendents out there.

Hi
As far as finding other family tree researchers! at the top of this page click search and surnames in the forum library above

Ancestry.diddy .com  and gensreunited diddy.com website. may have trees

this website link has a load about Lancashire

http://www.lan-opc.org.uk/

http://www.lan-opc.org.uk/Search/indexp.html

Think you know what to do with the diddy as put in not to advertise.

contact the social studies libraries and family history societies in your search areas.

Derbyshire, Warwick. Yorkshire, Stafford and Worcestershire.
In my opinion the marriage residence is not always the place of birth. Never forget Workhouse and overseers accounts records of birth.
