As far as I can see, the postal address of the General Hospital in 1949 was 418, Westgate Road, and there was nothing sinister about it.

About the same time as this poor child died I was visiting my aunt in the same hospital. It was agreed by all then that there was no better place for treatment than the General.

I agree with Gadget's comments, and I can assure Stan that at that time, and ever since to the best of my knowledge, there was absolutely no stigma attached to the General Hospital or its site.

Thank you for this information.  I am pleased to hear that it was a hospital.  thank you all for all your help.

My dad was pleased with the information so far and I now have to find the plot number at Hirst Parish Church where Ronald was burried.  Dad would like to go to his grave when he is the area in 2 weeks time.

I am going to try and contact the church now so that dad can do this.

Best wishes to you all
