Hello, there was a message posted here from a username 'hbg' searching for a Joseph Giles b.1846. We too have this name on our tree and can trace this back to 1676. (My grandfather is the son of Edward Giles who is the brother of Frank Giles-we belieive this person is probably a cousin...) If hbg is still a user on this site (or anyone knows them to pass this message on) and would like to know more on this family tree, please respond ASAP...

Hello
Welcome to Rootschat
hbg hasn't been on since August 2006
In case he still has notifications turned on, I've sent him a PM telling him about you and the Giles family, and posted a note on his thread.
Let's hope

Hello Bob, We think your tree is connected to ours, we already have the information you've given, we've researched this back to John and Anne Giles-John b.1650... Could you confirm who you are please? If we know who your parents/grandparents are we can see where you fit into the tree. My grandfather has done all the research on this, he is the son of Edward & Minnie-Florence Giles, They moved to Melton Mowbray after the Great War. Edward is the son of Joseph and brother of Francis and Henry. Francis went to Gadsby in Canada. Hope this is useful, please respond, we can compare trees. Best regards, Claire.

Hi Claire,
There is a bit of confusion on my Giles tree. I have taken it back to Anthony (born c1712, Buckland) & Mary, with 5 children. I had an email from another researcher to say that I had it wrong so have adjusted my tree with the other info. Now I'm unsure which line is right, but I can give you what I know is right. My grandmother was Louisa Giles born 1889, the eldest of 3 girls to George & Elizabeth (Hunt) George was the 5th child of 12 to William & Fanny (Lainsbury) This is where it differs I had William as the 7th child of 9 of John & Elizabeth (Bowles), but was told he was the 5th child of 8 of Giles Giles & Maria Barrett As I have said I have changed the tree but am not entirely convinced it's right. I still have the other line as it might connect. Hoping to hear from you. It's a pity there is not a secure way of exchanging email addresses.
Best wishes, Bob

Hello Bob, So was your grandmother, Louisa born a Hunt and became a Giles by marriage? if so do you know what the name of her husband/your grandfather was? we can then trace your position in the tree which will in turn bring you to the info you need... It would help if we knew your name too... You may find 'familysearch.co.uk' useful (Latter Day Saints) click on the IGI advanced search and enter 'Giles Buckland, Berkshire UK' All will come up dating back to 1676... It seems that some of your information is missing/wrong-hope this helps... Regards, Claire

Hi Claire,
My grandmother was Louisa Annie Giles, born 26 Nov.1889 in Tilehurst, Reading, Berks. Husbands were Ernest Albert Breadmore then Archibald William Jones My mother was Georgina Breadmore & I am Bob Lemon. I think I have a lot of missing info as I have been concentrating more on the Breadmore side.
Best wishes, Bob

Hello Bob, Was your grandmother, Louisa known by another name-other than Louisa? do you know what her parent's names were? We are at this point unable to identfy your grandmother and therefore unable to confirm that we are of the same line... We do have a family tree on myheritage.com with all the Giles' (219 in all!) If it is that you are of this line we will publish the tree for you to gain access... My grandfather would like to know if you are at all connected to the blacksmith in Buckland...

Hi Claire,
No idea who the blacksmith in Buckland was. I do have relatives in Canada. Clifford Silas (Cliff) is married to Lilian Bloomfield. He is my 2C1R. I am in constant touch with his nephew Brian Hurdle.
By the way, any idea what PM's are? When I joined rootschat I was told we could communicate through them after 3 posts.
Best wishes, Bob

Hi Bob, So no Giles' in Canada? We know that some of the Giles' went to Canada (Francis-son of Joseph and possibly his brother Henry) Joseph Giles-son of Giles Giles, had 3 brothers, Thomas, Edward and Henry and 2 sisters, Jane and Frances-Frances died aged 16... He also had 3 sons, Edward, Francis and Henry and a daughter, Helen. Does any of this ring any bells? Regards, Claire.
