Robert Wilson
« on: Friday 04 September 09 18:19 UTC (UK) »

Residing at 2 Herbert Street, Brithdir, Gelligaer on the 1901 Glamorgan census was Robert Wilson, boarder, aged 13, attending school, born Hackney, London.

I’ll keep my fingers and toes crossed on this one but would appreciate any details on the 1891 census for this young school boy?

Thanks, Roy

Is this person directly connected to your FH or are you researching him purely because he was at school in Brithdir in 1901

Oh dear, that's the second time today my indention has been questioned.  I am researching the history of the village which means I am researching everyone who has had an input into our village, BMD there or simple passed through, all contributed to how the village developed.  Hope you don't have a problem with that?

Hi Roy

Welcome to the London and Middlesex board.
It isn't easy looking for Wilsons in London. The 1911 census index definitely has a Robert Wilson but aged 26 born in Hackney residing in Edmonton registration district. There is nothing on the 1891 census for anyone born Hackney. Living in Hackney district in 1891 were two Robert Wilsons. One aged 6 born Dalston and one aged 1 born in Stoke Newington - both areas within Hackney. Neither of these boys appear on the 1901 census with birthplaces of Dalston or Stoke Newington.

Be also aware on the 1891 census in Wales there is Robert Wilson aged 3 born London adopted son in Llanwenarth, Monmouthshire (not found in Wales on the 1901 census unless he is Robert born Hackney or his name has become Williams).

Robert Wilson aged 5 born London in Watford
Robert R Wilson aged 5 norn London in Edmonton
and various Robert Wilsons with birthplaces in adjacent London districts like Shoreditch - birthplaces and London districts on censuses can be very interchangeable.

The 1911 census also has a Robert Wilson in Hackney registration district aged 23 who gives his birth place as Stoke Newington.

For copyright reasons you cannot request a search of the 1911 census. You must look yourself.
