BARTHROP(PE) Framlingham / Brandeston.
« on: Thursday 28 May 09 10:30 UTC (UK) »

May I prevail upon your help again?

I have John Barthropp married to an Esther
John b 1810 Parham.    D. 1862. age 52.  Buried Parham.
Esther b1812.

They had Emma b 1845. Framlingham & Ellen b 1848

Esther is not on the 1861 census. John, who died a year later, Emma age 15 and Ellen age 18 is . (I think that age is a mistake as on 1851 Emma is 5 and Ellen 3). & Esther is 39.
I would really like more info’ on Esther – i.e. her parents and any siblings? On 1851 it says she was born in Brandeston.
Esther appeared to have re: married in Jun 1870 to William Harsent in Framlingham.  I have been unable to find her death or another remarriage.

Thanks in anticipation.
Mary.

Hi Mary,

Could this be her death registration?

Esther Harsant    SepQ 1891   Plomesgate   4a   431   (age 79)

Her father's name and occupation should be shown on her marriage certificates.

Possible 1st marriage:

John Barthrop   MarQ 1841    Plomesgate  12   439

Bride:  Esther Moore

Hi,

Thank you so much Nanny Jan.

The Edmund Moore is a name I had from a 1841 census but it doesn't tell what relationship - so that confirms that! And a new name, Elizabeth Pipe which is what I was looking for, so I now have Esther's maiden name. Thank you!

Are there any baptisms on parish records?

The marriage I seem to have missed - will get certificate to confirm - thanks alot.

Esther's death I didn't go far enough! Am sure that is it, fits so well age wise. Thanks ever so.

Mary.

Hi Mary,

Not all parish records (baptisms/marriages/burials) are on the IGI, but if they have been filmed by the LDS you can order the films to view at your nearest LDS Family History centre.

Happy hunting!

Hello again Nanny Jan,

Thanks so much for all your help and advice.

Many of my ancestors seem to live to a great age. It's quite interesting!

Hello Mary,
I am interested to know if you know your Elizabeth Pipe's parents?  I can tell you her marriage, which is 25th Sept 1800 Brandeston, Suffolk, Edmund Moore & Elizabeth Pipe, but I haven't yet figured out where she came from.

Thanks for your interest - Michael.

No I haven't as yet sorted out Elizabeth Pipe's parents. There seems to be a lot of Pipe's!!

I did get Edmund Moor(e) 's death certificate as that interested me as he died 27/11/1876 age 102 years  His daughter was present - Hannah Ward. At Brandeston. I didn't have the marriage date - so thanks for that. They are my GGGG Grand-parents. This is the earliest I have gone back - so am quite pleased to be this far back!

I did have Elizabeth's death but can't put my hands on it - my filing should be better!

Hi Mary,

It looks as if Elizabeth died March Qtr 1855, but I can't be sure.  However I have her parents now.  She was baptised 28th July 1775 in Chediston, Suffolk, eldest of 10 children of William Pipe & Hannah Greenard, married at Chediston 11 Feb 1774.

William Pipe baptised 21 Jan 1753 Knoddishall, Suffolk, son of John Pipe & Hannah York.
Hannah Greenard b 1756 Middleton, Suffolk, daughter of George Greenard & Susannah Girling.

I can go back several generations further with the Pipes if you want.

Hello again,

Elizabeth death 'sounds' right. Edmund did not remarry.

That is most interesting - thank you.  Yes please, I would be delighted if you could go back even more generations.

I did find other Pipe's children but I until I really sit down and work through them it's guess work. I suspect they would be Elizabeth father's brothers & sisters.
