Cochrane PURDY married 1852 Co. Derry to Martha Dunlop.

There are various online sources (free) which you can use to get some information for Co. Londonderry records. You can search the index on www.emeraldancestors.com (need subscription to view details). A search there for Cochrane Purdy only brings up one entry- Cochrane PURDY m.1852 Derry to Martha ? .
Then, going to www.irishgenealogy.ie (Derry Genealogy Centre has been closed for quite a while but index still available) a search for Cochrane PURDY shows he married in 1852 Co.Derry to Martha Dunlop.

Index to civil registration is also online-
http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#p=collectionDetails;t=searchable;c=1408347
A search there shows Cochran PURDY married 1852 Coleraine registration district.
See search hints: www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,357532.0.html

You can repeat the above searches for Mcllelland (perhaps McClelland?) and any other names you are looking for.

Hi,
If you look at the start of the Londonderry page under Londonderry Resources and Links you will find that Aghadowey has listed the 1831 census for the parish of Dunboe and this gives a Cochrane Purdy as head of a family of 8 persons.

An Error Has Occurred!
The topic or board you are looking for appears to be either missing or off limits to you.
this is the info I get with the Londonerry Resources. 1852 for a marriage would be incorrect.  Interesting were thay got that info. especial if the family is in the 1831 census which I beleive would be correct. I would certanly like to get that one I have four chn that I Smiley know of.

Hi,
I can assure you that Aghadowey's information is correct. From Emerald Ancestors

Cochrane Purdy married Martha Dunlop in Dunboe 2nd Presbyterian Church on 5 Feb 1852.

I'm having no problem looking at Londonderry Resources (at top of this board) and haven't heard of anyone else having an error message. Perhaps a temporary glitch when you tried.

The 1852 marriage is certainly correct as it appears in church record and index to civil registrations but there is most likely more than one Cochrane Purdy in the area (quite possibly related) or else Cochrane Purdy was married more than once. The 1852 marriage should list his father's name and occupation as well as marital status (bachelor or widowed).

There apears to be two Cochrane Purdy's and this one could be the son. I am going to look into that thanks Smiley
