Does anyone know if there is a Dramatic Society in Leighton Buzzard please? If so, how would I get in touch with them and how long have they been established?
I'm trying to get some info on my cousin[now dead] Margaret Hastings, a RADA graduate, who would have belonged to the Soc. She wrote plays for the BBC Satyurday Night Theatre and acted in them. She lived in LB for a about a decade- 1957 onward- and if there is/was a Dramatic Soc she would have been active in it.
Any suggestions/idea/ help very much appreciated. Thanks, charlotte

There is in Leighton the " Leighton Buzzard Drama Group" you could try them to see what records they keep.

Hi Tazzie, Thank you very much for your reply and the link. It's most hepful and I'll see if they know anything about my person- it will depend on their records- and maybe there are some older Soc members who knew her.
Thanks again, charlotte

Hi again Tazzie, I've sent the message- on their homepage there is a tiny little box in which to type, so we'll see what happens. The man she lived with in LB, Mr Barrett, was a philanthropist so he almost certainly would have been generous towards the Soc if she was in it- so that's another cahnce of scoring info.
Thanks again, charlotte

Hi again Borri,
Hard to know which group Biddy[Margaret] would have belonged to although her interest in music was classical- and also she wrote for The Listener on music- Gluck if I remember correctly so maybe if the Masqueraders were popular music it may not have applealed to her- but then she did so mnay unexpexcted things, who knows?
Maybe your friends in the current group know some old hands from the Drama Soc who are still around LB? Mr Barr*tt, with whom my cousin lived as wife, was an Irish philanthropist and he very likely gave money to the groups in which she was interested. Any bits of info you can glean would be of interest ... that curiosity thing that drives family history...
Thank you for your reply and interest, charlotte
