Hi csc, Have you established where the ON cousins might be? There are census searchable and free for ON which should show quite a bit of info that may help.

Have you looked up the ON census yourself? Maybe some extra unexpected info there...I had that checking out a Candian census entry- you can find them if you go to the Canada Board and look at Canadian Resources you'll see the census links there . charlotte

There were obvious family links to the Fergus area of Ontario as Benjamin's son, born in Scotland, enlisted in Fergus (mistakenly typed as Kergus) in 1914. When you search collectionscanada it didn't pull up a copy of his attestation papers.

I think Agnes' mother, Isabella, is not the one referred to in the previous post living with daughter Mary.
Alexander Wilkie(45), Wagonmaker, on the 1861 census is living in Fergus with with wife Isobel (43) and 9 children ages 3-21. Parents are born Scotland and children Canada. George Wilkie (36), Carpenter, is living in Fergus with wife Marg (32) and 3 children ages 2-10.
Alexander dies in 1874 and the informant is his brother George, carpenter. 1881 census Isabella (63) is living with 2 children, one being Mary, in Fergus. 1891 Isabella (73) and Mary (30) are in Fergus and also on the 1901 census Isabella (82) and Mary (35). 1911 census - I don't see Isabella and no clear choice for Mary. George Wilkie dies in 1886 and his son Thomas, Mason, is the informant.
In the 1851 census there is a James (33) and Isabella (32) Wilkie, both born Scotland living in Nissouri West Township of Middlesex County. You find them in the same location in later census but children don't include Agnes.

On the 1861 census for Garafraxa Township, Wellington county (vicinity of Fergus) there is John Wilkie(74) and Mrs. Wilkie (70) both born Scotland and married 1812 Living with them is their son James (36) and his wife Mrs. Wilkie(34) and married 1854. Their son, James(6) born Canada.
1871 census for Garafraxa Township, Wellington Centre, is James (47) and Isabella (45) and daughters Agnes (10) and Grace (3). James has disappeared. 1881 census in Fergus is James(57) and Isabella(54) with Agness J.(20) but no Grace.
The only marriage I could find through LDS records in Scotland around 1854 between James Wilkie and an Isabella was 9 July 1854 at Barony Lanark to Isabella Robinson. Coincidentally there is a marriage between John Wilkie to Christian McGhie 28 Dec 1815 also at Barony.
So far any records for deaths for this family have eluded me or they contain so little information it's hard to connect them to people.

1852 census there is a John Wilkie (Magestrate/Farmer ) age 66 b. Scotland wife is Margaret age 64 and James 28 and George 26 all born Scoyland
There is a death for James Wilkie June 17 1883 Fergus, Wellington age at death : 61 years 7 months 26 days / born 1822 Fifeshire, Scotland
Pedigree resource file has a George born to John Wilkie and Margaret Lister... other siblings including a GRACE,...but not a James listed... ? ( There are also deaths for a George & Alexander Wilkie in Fergus, Wellington born Fifeshire, Scotland...I suppose they might have been cousins)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ unrelated to question, but Did Agnes & Benjamin have children in Scotland? This CEF signup for an Everard Bell Imrie says mother Agness Wilkie Emerie is in Regina Sask. http://data2.archives.ca/cef/gpc007/414791a.gif&id_nbr=477744
Early weddings in St. Andrews Church - Fergus, Ont. Alexander, son of John Wilkie and Margaret Lister, to Isabella Moffat on March 3, 1838 witnessed by James Rose and Robert Wilkie of Garafraxa where Alexander was from.
Grace Wilkie of John and Margaret married James Rose 25 July 1837 St. Andrews - son Daniel followed later.
We seem to be getting information on all Wilkie names not associated with your main question. They seem to be elusive.
