I have discovered that my deceased father in law Walter Lane born March 14 1925 in Boston, Lincs was awarded the Italy Star with an oak leaf during WW2 How do I find out exactly when, where & why he was awarded this medal please

Maybe if you posted this on the armed Service Board you'd get a helpful answer from someone who knows about decorations and citations.
Perhaps also mentioing in the subject line of the post that it is about that a decoration etc would help get the right reader.
