Gen John Pigott Nixon
« on: Sunday 05 July 09 08:11 UTC (UK) »

John Pigott Nixon and his wife Maria Georgiana Bean had a  daughter, Ellen Lavinia Philadelphia Nixon, who married Frederick Edward Worsley-Roberts on the 28th January 1889. They had a son: John Rhodes Douglas Worsley-Roberts born 14 October 1890 in Uitenhage, South Africa.  I would like to find out if there were any other children born of this marriage and what became of Ellen, Frederick and their son John.  I believe that Frederick Edward Worsley-Roberts was the son of Lord Roberts.

Well, according to this website http://website.lineone.net/~peterbidmead/marine_listing2.htm

Harry Lynch TALBOT, aged 42 years, bachelor, Major, Royal Marines Artillery, HMS Renown, the son of Robert Talbot deceased, married 7th January 1901 to, Daisie Ellida WORSLEY-ROBERTS, aged 26 years, spinster, the daughter of Frederick Bertie Worsley-Roberts deceased

Actually, scrap what I have just said - I've just done the maths and realised that Daisie can't be the daughter, and anyway her father has a different name.  Apologies for any confusion and this teaches me to post before having any coffee!  Roll Eyes

Anything before coffee is generally a bad idea!  And it's a real shame that it is the wrong Frederick W-R, because there is a fascinating account of a court case between FBW-R and Aubrey de Vere Hunt (The Times, Friday, Nov 25, 1892; pg. 13; Issue 33805; col F:  Queen's Bench Division. Hunt V. Roberts.) Roll Eyes

Jack, is there a connection between this FW-R and your FW-R?  FBW-R seems to have settled in Algoa Bay, South Africa according to the above article.
