I have traced my Webb's back as far as William Webb abt 1776 New Forest & South Stoneham district. He married Elizabeth Eldridge Sept 1804 Eling. I have both of them on 1841 Census but now would like to find his parents.  How can I do this on-line from Australia & is it possible to obtain copies of church records. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Marpatch,

Are they the couple in the parish of Dibden in 1841?  HO107/402/3 11 p14 - Culverley?  Did they have sons George (1804), William (1807), John (1811) and Charles (1815)?

Unfortunately William Webb is a common name.  Starting with where they married and seemed to have lived, there is only one William Webb baptised in that area in that time frame:

William Webb baptised 2 May 1771 in Fawley, father William.  Recorded as of Eling.

I can't find Elizabeth's baptism at the moment.

Thank you Nell for your help. Yes William had the four sons that you list in your e-mail. I am interested in the record of his baptism stating his father as yet another William recorded in Eling, do you have any more info on him. I think that the Entry HO107/402/3 11 p14 Culverley must be my William & Elizabeth.......the location confused me a bit but Culverley sounds correct.

Unfortunately, not a lot more information.  There was a Mary Webb baptised in Eling 28 July 1762, father William, but no other Webb baptisms in either Fawley or Eling with a father William that I can immediately see.

No suggestions for a marriage either.  Sorry.  Sad
