Minister of where? (Completed)
« on: Wednesday 08 July 09 16:11 UTC (UK) »

1851 census: HO107/2310/314/3.
Samuel Hughes is a Baptist minister, but of where?  I cannot read it  Huh
By 1861 he is retired, so that doesn't help and I cannot find him in 1841, so that doesn't help either.
Any ideas?
Peter

Hi

It helps to include the area in your post (saves looking up the entry)

Samuel was living in Manningham Yorkshire in 1851

I think it says Kirton Chapel. I am looking at the original image and trying to compare letters in other words.

Don't take my word for it, Peter. I can't find a Kirton in the area either and it could easily be something else. That was just my initial reading of it.

Any other offers on this one?

Hmmmm....

There is a Heaton Chapel in Bradford, not far from the Manningham area. And on the page before there is a capital H which is remarkably similar to the first letter of the place we are struggling with.

Hi  Smiley

I agree with Jen - Heaton Chapel is first on the list of Baptist chapels in Mannigham/Bradford

Jen / Gadget

Thank you both very much! That must be right.

As described on the IGI: "Bethel Or Swaine Boyd Lane Bottom Chapel-Baptist, Heaton, Yorkshire"

I can now put the right info into my FH program
