Hi Sparkle Smiley,
I am not sure how far you have gone back with this couple but have found them in 1861 and other census entries.
Poor Clementine didnt live long after marriage Sad
Death;
Clementina SOUTTER
September 1870
St Olave 1d 163
Age 36

EDIT;
I just read your postings, so sorry, now realise you must have James marriage to Emma Underly and be descended from one of the children with her.

Cheers,
Trish

Hi

Thanks for the suggestions - I am trying not to have to order a certificate. As Trish has worked out when Clemantine died he remarried to Emma Undery and I am a descendent of their child Kate.    Looks like I may have to spend the £7 on a certificate.

Hi Sparkle

On the 1861 census Clementine Soutter married to James and living in Bermondsey, was aged 25 and born in Southwark. Her first name is unusual and there is only one entry on the 1851 census which fits out of the three Clementine Lewises of about the right age (the others born in Eastbourne and Devon).

1851 census HO107 1558 folio 259
2 Little Falcon Court St Saviour Southwark
William Lewis 44 Head Married Packing Case maker Wiltshire
Clementine Lewis 42 Wife Married St Saviour Surrey
Elizabeth Lewis 23 Daughter Envelope ? St Saviour Surrey
Sarah Lewis 19 Daughter Velum sewer St Saviour Surrey
Clementine Lewis 15 Daughter St Saviour Surrey
Caroline Lewis 8 Daughter St Saviour Surrey
William Lewis 21 Son Packing case maker St Saviour Surrey
Charles Lewis 17 Son Coppersmith (apprentice) St Saviour Surrey
Robert Lewis 7 Son  St Saviour Surrey
Alfred Lewis 2  Son St Saviour Surrey
Henry Lewis 6 months Son St Saviour Surrey

CLEMENTINE LEWIS
Birth:  30 AUG 1835
Christening:  20 SEP 1835   Saint Saviour, Southwark, Surrey
Father:  WILLIAM LEWIS
Mother:  CLEMENTINE

Regards
