Watching the thread with great interest, remember marriage was legal for a girl from the age of 12 between 1858 and I think 1929; also that many marriage certificates have ages on them which have been massaged! to say the least.

But this couple did it the modern way! Had six kids before they married in 1892, then the wife died three years later age 25.

St Neots baptisms have just arrived in the post. Only two days from Huntingdon to France.  Well done UK/French postal services!

Not bad at all David, in general though it hurts me to say it, I find that US retail sites and the US Postal Service tend to beat any of the European ones hands down!

I'd just like to update anyone who contributed to this thread. Thanks to everyone who posted, with a special thankyou to bedfordshire boy for all the info he had on the Dilley's before they went to Islington.

I've now managed to trace the Dilley's back to 1800 and have finally finsihed writing up the info I have so far to send to Sid's two living children. Hopefully I can give them an entire paternal family they knew nothing about.

It means a lot to me as I'm very fond of them both. Thankyou all again.
