I was wondering whether anyone has any information about this family.

Lancelot Watson Rowe was born in Penzance, Cornwall in 1852. By the 1881 census he had married (Isabella ?Hope in 1876) and was living in Prudhoe Castle and had 3 children - Mary Ann b1876 (she was in Penzance in 1881 census),  Priscilla T b1879 in Hagg, Sarah Julia b1881 also in Hagg.

By 1891, they were living in Consett and had 3 more children - William W b1883 in South Shields, John C b1886 in Newcastle, and Lottie b1888 also in Newcastle.

In 1901, they were in Thornley and in 1911 Durham and I have found a death for Isabella in 1924.

By 1926, Lancelot had moved down to Camberwell in London and married my great-grandmother (some 29 years his junior) and he was dead by the end of the year.

I know that my grandfather inherited some land in Durham from his mother but until now, we never knew about any Durham family connections and how she came by it. I haven't looked into wills etc before and I'm not sure how to go about it.

I'd be very interested to hear from anyone who has any member of this family in their tree.

Information about looking for Wills is on
http://www.hmcourts-service.gov.uk/cms/1226.htm

Basically the index books can be searched for free at the Probate Office in Holborn London, then if you find there is a will you send to York for it - at a cost (£5? )
Or you can just send to York with the money and they will look over a year or two incl in the cost.
