Steynton parish baptism Mary Williams
« on: Tuesday 07 July 09 18:25 UTC (UK) »

I am searching for information about Mary Williams born about 1828 in Steynton Pembrokeshire. Mary married  a William Lewis born about 1824  in Pennar. Any help with this family would be appreciated.
They had two children Elizabeth born 1854 and Martha Ann 1856. I have the various census details but I should like to know the baptism and marriage details of Mary and William if possible.
Regards,

The area and time period of your interest for William Lewis comes under the parish of Pembroke St Mary, so from my index of the Pembroke St Mary Baptism Register for 1822 to 1847 I note the following
03 May 1826 William to Thomas & Martha Lewis of the Ferry a labr baptized by C. Philipps
15 July 1827 William  to John & Mary Lewis of the Dock a labourer by C. Philipps

Many early workers at the new Dockyard lived in the Eastend so from my index of Pembroke St Michael Baptism Register for the period 1813 to 1839 I note
25 Aug 1824 William to Thomas & Jane Lewis of the Eastend a Blacksmith by C. Philipps
19 Sept 1827 William to William & Hannah Lewis of the Eastend a labourer by C. Philipps.

I will leave you to decide which if any of the above is “your” William Lewis, however if you happen to know if William had any siblings, it might just be that I can locate them which would possibly point to the parents.

The IGI notes a Mary Williams baptised 01 Nov 1828 to James & Ann Williams at Hubberston. The IGI appears to suggest this Mary died as a child, which may well be wrong.
The IGI also suggests a Mary Williams baptized 09 May 1824 at Steyton to Thomas & Martha Williams. It would appear that both baptisms are correct, it is not possible to confirm the formers later burial.
