help ! searching irish records?

i have no idea how to search irish records, i have googled it and failed im afraid any help wll be fantastic my grandfather james freddy coyne was born in county mayo around abt1917 he married my grandmother agnes bullimore in grantham and died and was buried here in 1993. can any one help

Full Civil registration started here in Ireland in 1864 so that is the place to start. familysearch has an Index available at : http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#p=2;t=searchable;c=1408347

See the posts on the Ireland Resources (http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/board,385.0.html) board for hints on searching this.

If you find possible matches you can order research certs (which are a scan/copy or the register) from the GRO - www.groireland.ie  The details they require are name, record type, registration district, volume and page number

The two surviving census details (1901 and 1911) are gradually being placed online on the nation archives website at : http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/  (1911 data for nine counties is currently available)

some 1901 census data for Co. Mayo records is available at : http://www.leitrim-roscommon.com/1901census/

possible match for James' birth from the Irish Civil Index on familysearch :

 Record type: Birth
 Name: James Coyne
 Registration district: Castlebar
 qtr and year: Jul - Sep 1916
 Volume: 4 / Page: 99

(there are a couple of other  records that could be close - but this is the best match)
